Important information for all Pakistani manual passport holders:

The Pakistani Missions are authorized to issue manual passport for a further period of 18 months. The validity and expiry for such passport will be 31st July 2012.



FLOODS IN PAKISTAN 2011 : INFORMATION NOTE

The Southern parts of Pakistan, particularly the Sindh province have been devastated with severe rains. In the past few days the affected areas have received 142% more rains than normal.

The unprecedented rains in the area have wreaked havoc with the lives of millions of people besides causing huge devastation to livestock and standing crops.

As the devastation caused by heavy rains/floods is much beyond national resources of Pakistan, the Government of Pakistan has appealed to the international community including the expatriate Pakistani community to make generous contribution and assist in the rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts for the millions of people affected by this natural calamity.

The “Prime Minister’s Relief Fund 2011” have been opened. The State Bank of Pakistan, all branches of National Bank of Pakistan and all scheduled banks in Pakistan will be receiving donations in this account in Pakistan.

In the wake of the severity and scale of this natural disaster, urgent humanitarian assistance is required to save lives and continue rescue operation. The list of requirement is attached.

The consignee for the goods being sent for the flood affected population in Sindh province would be Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Sindh. They would arrange clearance and delivery of relief assistance to the affected areas from the Karachi Airport. Mr. Muhammad AsifJameel, Assistant Director(Operations), PDMA, Sindh has is focal person for all coordination including facilitation at Karachi Airport. The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been arranged by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for free of charge transportation of relief goods.
